Sex Therapy Skills Training Intensive: January 23-27, 2023

This week-long intensive connects theories, knowledge, and research to the clinical practice of sex therapy. Each day consists of 6 CE hours: 4.5 hours of instruction in various topics (utilizing multiple teaching modalities, including lecture, large and small group discussion, and video content), followed by 90 minutes of case discussion and/or role play.

Daily schedule 9:00 am - 4:00pm EST (with 15 minute breaks at 10:30 am and 2:15 pm; 30 minute lunch from 12:15-12:45 pm)

Participants may opt to register for single days, rather than the full week. Single day sessions must be attended in full to receive CE credits; partial day attendance is not available for CE credit.

Daily Topics & Instructors:

Monday 1/23/23: The morning session will welcome Carla Rosinski to discuss dismantling cis- & heteronormativity and interrogating whiteness through an exploration of the triangle of domination: capitalism, colonialism, and white supremacy. In the afternoon, Joseph Winn will present about erotic transference and countertransference and then lead the day’s case discussion session.

Tuesday 1/24/23: Marissa Dungan will present about anti-semitism and working with interfaith couples, Stephanie Wallace will present about desire and differentiation, and Paula Leech will present about working with erectile dysfunction. The case discussion session will be led by Stephen Duclos.

Wednesday 1/25/23: Joe Winn will present about working with infidelity in couples therapy, Jessica Price will discuss sex therapy with adolescents through the lens of disability, and Stephen Duclos will present on sex and aging. The case discussion session will be led by Jessica Price.

Thursday 1/26/23: The morning session will welcome Duewa ‘Kaya’ Spicer to discuss queerness and performances of masculinity, incorporating discussion of the intersections of gender, race, and culture. In the afternoon, Ariana Mufson will present an introduction to genitopelvic pain disorders and best practices for sex therapy treatment and collaboration. The case discussion session with be led by Stephanie Wallace.

Friday 1/27/23: Before lunch, Marissa Dungan will present about the institution of marriage, and Stephen Duclos will present about sex, COVID-19, and pandemics. After lunch, Paula Leech will present about fantasy and pornography and then lead the case discussion session.

This program meets the requirements for the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and is approved for 30 total CE credits for the weeklong intensive.
